This elegant and traditional decor hotel is in an excellent location just a short walk to the beach and plenty of bars, restaurants and shops. The setting in the Plaza de Flores is lovely and the hotel restaurant has outside space into the square so a very nice place to eat and drink and watch the world go by. Our room was comfortable and clean with a spacious and modern bathroom. A decent size safe is also provided which takes iPads comfortably unlike in some hotels. Overall the hotel has a comfortable relaxed but understated atmosphere, a peaceful and elegant haven. What makes this hotel a cut above the rest though is the staff, who are truly excellent, in particular in reception. We were greeted at checkin with a glass of cava and a nice personal touch, much appreciated. Nothing seems too much trouble and the staff give off a vibe of excellent service in an unobtrusive way. We ate in the hotel’s Casafina and Makako restaurants and in both cases we had excellent food. Casafina is more Spanish and Makako is Japanese fusion which seems very popular and is best to book. The rooftop bar is lovely for a cocktail with a view. We were sorry to leave but will certainly be back.

Really beautiful boutique hotel in the heart of old town Estepona. Located in a very pretty square where you can sit out for any meal and enjoy the comings and goings. Stunning views from the rooftop bar and restaurant. Lourdes and her fabulous team including Sandra and Celia couldn’t have been more welcoming and helpful. All of the staff at this hotel are exceptionally helpful and friendly. It’s not often you come across somewhere so delightful and uplifting. The whole place has a serene and peaceful aura, the rooms are spotlessly clean and the bed was really comfortable which is so important. We cannot fault Hotel El Pilar. We will recommend it without any doubt to friends and will definitely visit again… hopefully many times!! Thank you to all the staff - you made our stay extremely memorable 💛

High quality upmarket experience. The accommodation itself could not have a better location, being situated on Plaza de las Flores, Estepona. The room we had overlooked the beautiful square itself and had a 'Juliet' balcony. The staff were friendly, helpful, efficient and were eager to assist, whatever the request. The food and drink 'offer' at the hotel was superb, and was provided through a range of bars/restaurants including a wine bar, a bistro, a breakfast room, an Asian/Fusion restaurant, a rooftop bar, a breakfast room and a pub. The quality of the food and drink was very high. The ambience of the hotel was also positively influenced by the standard of the materials used in the building itself, as well in the furnishings, fittings and sympathetic colour-schemes used.

The hotel is perfectly located for the old town, restaurants and the more modern shopping area. We cannot fault the hotel in any way. Our room faced the plaza and was spacious, comfortable, spotlessly clean (as was the whole hotel) and with some nice touches. We had a very nice welcome from all the reception staff who were very helpful and spoke excellent English. The choice of restaurants and bars is superb with a great choice of food and wine. We can only praise the management for running one of the best hotels of it's type we have stayed in and congratulate all involved for providing such an enjoyable stay. As you can tell we highly recommend.

This was our second visit to this wonderful hotel. We have recommended it to friends and we will definitely return. The bedrooms are high ceilings and large, very comfortable beds, great showers. Beautiful foyer and the porter assistance is quietly great. El Pilar Hotel is perfectly located. Right in front is a gorgeous square where drinks are served listening to a guitarist. Around the corner is a wonderful bistro El casa del Rey. Park the car and walk down the historic streets lined with one fantastic restaurant after another I really can't praise it enough. 👍
